Doing laundry in an RV is a trade-off. The machine has to fit a small closet, run on RV power and survive the road. It also has to dry clothes in a drum about the size of a microwave without shrinking your T-shirts. Most RV washer dryer combo reviews stop at size and price. This one also looks at what each machine does to fabric.
My background is textile wet processing: 14+ years controlling water, heat, chemicals and mechanical action on fabric in industrial dyeing machines. A washer dryer combo applies the same forces, just at home scale. This is a specification and fabric-care analysis, not a hands-on test of every machine. Here is how we review.

What to check before you buy an RV washer dryer combo
1. Does it fit the closet and the door?
Measure the closet width, depth and height, and the narrowest door or hallway on the way in. Most RVs prepped for laundry are built around a 24-inch-class machine. Leave space behind it for hoses and the vent.
2. Power
The Splendide and Equator are 120 V machines, which suits RV outlets. Drying draws the most power, so most owners dry on shore power or avoid running the air conditioner at the same time. Check the power requirement on any listing against your rig’s circuit before you buy.
3. Vented or ventless
Vented drying pushes hot, damp air outside through a hole in the wall, so it is faster. Ventless (condensing) drying needs no wall vent, but takes longer and runs cooler. If your rig has no vent and you do not want to cut one, choose ventless or convertible.
4. Weight and vibration
Every pound counts against your cargo capacity, and a spinning drum shakes a lightweight floor. Remove the shipping bolts before first use. Bolt or strap the machine in place, and choose a lower spin speed if the floor flexes.
5. What it does to fabric
This is the part most reviews skip. A combo dries in the same small drum it washes in, so clothes stay crumpled together while hot. Overloading means longer drying, deeper creases and more shrinkage. As a rule, dry about half of what you wash. A cold or delicate cycle matters more than any “steam” label for keeping knits in shape.
The best washer dryer combos for RVs
1. Splendide WDV2200XCD: best overall for RVs
This is the machine many RV makers design their laundry closets around. It is a vented, front-loading combo that runs on 120 V. Amazon sells it on its own and in a bundle with a complete vent kit.
- Fabric view: the listing describes a dual-rotating drum and variable spin speeds that reduce wrinkles and improve drying. Changing direction stops clothes from twisting into a tight rope, which means fewer creases and less stretched knitwear.
- Cycles: Delicates, Heavy Duty, Normal and Quick Wash, with spin up to 1,200 rpm per the listing, plus automatic detergent, bleach and softener dispensers.
- Watch out: one listing rates it at 15 lb and another at 11 lb. Plan for small loads either way, and dry even smaller ones.
- Skip it if you cannot fit a vent. It is a vented machine.
Two listings: with vent kit and detergent or machine only.
- WASHER & DRYER IN ONE – Wash, dry, or go straight from wash to dry with no laundry transfer required
- DESIGNED FOR RV LIVING – Compact size fits RV closets and small spaces while delivering full-featured performance
- ADVANCED WASH & DRY TECHNOLOGY – Dual-rotating drum and variable spin speeds reduce wrinkles and improve drying efficiency
- EASY-TO-USE CONTROLS – Classic cycle knob paired with a modern digital display and expanded wash options
- EXTRA-WIDE DOOR OPENING – EasyGrip handle and wide opening make loading and unloading simple
2. Equator 24″ 110V Convertible Combo: best when you can’t cut a vent
A 24-inch combo that you can set up vented or ventless. It holds 1.62 cu ft (15 lb), spins at up to 1,400 rpm and measures about 33.5 × 23.6 × 21.8 inches.
- Fabric view: ventless (condensing) mode dries with lower air temperature, which is kinder to cotton jersey, elastane blends and printed T-shirts. Use vented mode when you need speed and ventless when you care about shrinkage.
- Useful extras: a pet-hair cycle, child lock, delay start and an end-of-cycle chime.
- Watch out: the listing itself says comforters need a larger machine.
- ALL-IN-ONE WASHER + DRYER COMBO: Wash and dry in one machine, 1.62cf/15lbs capacity, suitable for apartments, studios, RVs, and space-conscious homes
- CONVERTIBLE VENTING/VENTLESS DRYING: Choose the drying method that fits your space-vented for faster performance, or condensing when ducts aren't an option
- PET CYCLE POWER: Specially designed to remove embedded pet hair from fabrics before the drying cycle begins-your wardrobe's best friend
- LED DISPLAY WITH TOUCH BUTTON CONTROLS: Modern, intuitive control panel for streamlined operation
- COMPACT SIZE: Measures just 33.5 x 23.6 x 21.8 inches, suitable for your regular laundry routine with clothes and towels. For oversized items like comforters, a larger combo is recommended
3. Midea 2.7 cu ft 24″ Combo: best capacity for big rigs
If you have a fifth wheel or a large motorhome with room to spare, this ventless combo offers the most drum space here. It spins at 1,400 rpm and has steam care, an overnight wash-and-dry cycle and an inverter motor that Midea covers with a 10-year warranty.
- Fabric view: a bigger drum gives clothes room to tumble, which means fewer creases and more even drying. That is the real fabric-care benefit of capacity.
- Watch out: the listing says the default dryer program runs about 4 hours, which is normal for condensing drying. It is a heavier machine, so check your floor and weight limits, and remove the transport bolts before first use.
- Skip it if your rig has a compact laundry closet.
- 【Wash and Dry in One】Say goodbye to transferring loads and do your laundry in one machine. Midea's all-in-1 Ventless Washer and Dryer Combo has multi modes to meet different washing and drying demands - steam care, overnight wash and dry, reload function, quick wash, washer clean, air fluff.
- 【Energy & Space Saving】Compact size with large compacity. Perfect for families of 3-4 looking to maximize their laundry space in apartments, RVs, and more. BLDC inverter quattro motor comes with a 10-year warranty and has passed the DOE energy efficiency test, ensuring great performance with less energy consumption.
- 【Overnight Wash & Dry】Convenient overnight wash and dry cycle. Do your laundry at night and wake up to clean and fresh clothes in the morning. To prevent moving and shaking, REMOVE transport bolts before using. Defult time for Dryer program is 4-hour and Wash&Dry Program is 6-hour
- 【Concise Control Panel 】Sleek design with 16 optional programs and 6 extra features for any laundry needs. Easy installation with a 120V standard outlet, and no venting is needed.
- 【Keep Clothes Fresh and Clean】Our Steam Care function keeps clothing soft and eliminates stains, germs, and bacteria for a thorough clean. Air Fluff feature keeps clothes fresh for up to 8 hours after the dry cycle has ended, preventing odors and keep clothes scent fresh.
4. Auertech 28 lb Twin Tub: best budget option for small rigs
Not a true combo: a semi-automatic washer tub next to a spin basket, with no heated drying. You fill it with a hose and drain it into a bucket or drain line, so it works in rigs with no laundry hookups.
- Fabric view: spin-only drying is the gentlest option for fabric, because there is no heat at all. Hang clothes to finish drying and you avoid dryer shrinkage completely.
- Watch out: it needs hands-on work: you move clothes from tub to spinner yourself.
- [Large Capacity Twin tub Washer] Auertech portable mini washer has two separate tubs, washing tub and spin tub, allowing you to wash and dry clothes at the same time. The compact and lightweight design makes it easy to fit in bathrooms or closets. Perfect for dorms, apartments, RVs, etc. Note: There is water in the washing machine because it is tested before packaging, we do not sell used products!
- [Powerful Performance] Equipped with a 1300 rpm powerful motor, clothes can be washed quickly and efficiently. Washer capacity: 18lbs, Spin capacity: 10lbs. Recommended maximum water line: 13.5 inches. The transparent window allows you to see the process of washing or spinning. Our mini washer machine can achieve low consumption and save water, while free your hands.
- [Equip with Drain Pump & Adjustable Inlet Hose] This portable washing machine equipped with a drainage pump. You can choose freely drain water to a higher position or a convenient place randomly. You never need to worry about the drainage problem.
- [Separate Time Control & Lint Filter]Users can control washing time, washing mode and spinning time through the three control switches on the panel. There is two water inlets on the panel for connecting the hose to easily add water. With the simple control panel, this mini washer is easy to operate and you can get clean clothes in three steps.
- [Product Usage Tips] 1. Don't overload. Overload may cause the motor to turn on overheating protection. 2. Balance the spinner to prevent it from losing balance, hitting the inner walls, stopping work. 3. If the machine doesn’t drain, check that the water hose is not clogged or bent, which may prevent the spinner from working properly. 4. Make sure the drain height is less than 45 inches.
How to protect your clothes in a small combo
- Wash full, but dry half. Split a wash load into two drying runs if you can.
- Sort by fiber: towels and jeans together, knits and activewear on a separate delicate run.
- Wash dark clothes inside out in cold water. Dark dyes can rub off onto lighter clothes when wet.
- Take knits out while slightly damp and lay them flat. The last 10 minutes of drying cause most shrinkage.
- Leave the door open after use, and clean the filter often. A small drum in a closed RV gets musty fast.
- Before freezing weather, drain the machine fully following the maker’s winterizing steps.
Frequently asked questions
Only if the rig has space, a water supply, a drain and suitable 120 V power. Many RVs come prepped with a laundry closet. If yours is not prepped, a portable twin tub is the simplest alternative. Vented dries faster but needs a wall vent. Ventless needs no vent and runs cooler, which is kinder to fabric, but each load takes longer. A convertible machine lets you choose. Usually the drum is too full. Combos dry best with about half a wash load. Overloading also adds creases and shrinkage, because clothes stay pressed together while hot. Any heated dryer can shrink cotton and wool. Use the delicate or low-heat setting, and take knits out slightly damp to dry flat. Can you put a washer dryer combo in any RV?
